Set in the serene spectacular Vineyards of the Loire
Valley
Château de la
Commanderie
Farges-Allichamps
18200 St Amand - Montrond
Built
during the 11th and 19th centuries, La Commanderie is set in
the very heart of France, close to George Sand's village and
the famous Sancerre vineyards. This is now the home of Laura
and Umberto who recently bought it from the Count and
Countess de Jouffroy-Gonsans, whose family has lived here
for three centuries. The new owners are taking great care
not to change the friendly family atmosphere of this elegant
and secluded country place.
The Château de la Commanderie is surrounded by
150 acres of beautiful grounds, providing the perfect
setting for staying in one of the small number of elegant
rooms available for guests. A number of excursions from the
Château are recommended, including the vineyard at the
handsome 17th century Château de la Chaise, with wine
tasting hosted by the Marquise de Roussy de Sales.
“...Even from a distance you can practically
hear the boom of guns, the clatter of hooves on courtyards,
or the rustle of 18th century silk and clink of glasses.”
